Zigbee sleep indicator

Many companies like Texas, Microchip, Atmel, and Ember are producing ZigBee radios. In this paper the Xbee, a ZigBee radio from MaxStream Inc [6]. Is chosen. One of the main advantages of the Xbee module is its easy UART (Universal Asynchronous Receive Transmit) serial interface. This interface makes it ideal for communication with a PC, as well as a micro controller. Devices having a UART interface can be connect directly to this Xbee module.
It runs off a voltage of between 2.8 and3.4 V, the consumption being 45 mA in TX, 50 mA in RX and less than 10uA in power-down, the whole set being supplied with 3.3 V.
The Xbee module with a 0 dBm output has been used as communication module, with an indoor range of up to 30metres and up to 100 meters outside (with whip antenna) and working at 2.4 GHz on the Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) band. Communication with the microcontroller is made with AT commands through an interface series (DOUT, DIN) at speeds configurable between 1200 and 115200 b/s; the Xbee device's set of commands makes it possible to configure the network (addressing, activating the module as coordinator, router and end device), configure the serial interface parameters with the microcontroller, define the module's sleep-mode working, etc.
